Mourn The Divine Mourn The Divine She: a young prodigy. He: an old master never fulfilling his destiny. Upon forging their alliance, both were juxtaposed. She would now be master and he would reprise a chance long thought gone. Mourn the Divine came into existence for a reason. That reason is still being discovered as the universe unfolds the way it should. But the question is being raised; what will happen when two unlikely forces of nature combine to impose their concerted will upon the universe of music? There is indeed an awakening in progress. Collaboration began in early January 2010. With Sarah and Priestan living an hour apart, this project was worth the time and distance travelled. Writing was prolific between the two composers. Performing the songs and blocking tracks was a daily event after hours of either school or work. Within a few short months 10 songs had been recorded and mixed towards completion of their debut LP “Awakening”. Performing together took place on weekends and internet sites began to wink into existence. They launched the home of their cyber realm, a place where their fan base knows as “Divination” could follow their progress on www.mournthedivine.ca. In March, their YouTube videos and unfinished song clips caught the attention of imagefm’s music director, Mark Brewer who booked MTD to do a live webcast on March 23. The aftermath suddenly saw attention levied at the duo, and their submission of the single titled “Sorry” debut at #30 across Canada’s consolidated indie charts and reaching as high as #17 by April. All of this is indicative of good things to come as Sarah and Priestan have been guarded about “Awakening” and have chosen a release for sometime on June. Still, they are gathering momentum and fans quickly and booking has started to become steady. Mourn the Divine is unique as it is more of a brand, than a band. MTDV1 is a beautiful duo of just Priestan and Sarah. Those performances are acoustic instruments and piano with focus on amazing vocals. MTDV2 is the full scale version of their work that employs a powerful ensemble of musicians to bring the pairs compositions to life. Sarah and Priestan work perfectly together. Their styles are symbiotic and their writing is organic. Two people with unmatched work ethic and the determination to create are the perfect catalyst for music to be respected in the days to come. In their own words: We are a unique act. We are two strong people who work hard to get stronger. We work tirelessly to record, produce and perform. We share a goal of writing and producing the highest quality of music that we have in us and hope to entertain you all. From folk, Opera, metal, rock, classical, we compose it and bring it before the world. We do not hold ourselves to just one dimension, but explore every plane of music we can and strive to learn and grow and bring you along for the ride. We have had to make concessions, compromises and sacrifices not for fame and glory, but because we dedicate everything we can to our music as a way of life. Every new day brings a new opportunity to learn, better ourselves and set new goals. Mourn the Divine is only in its infancy, and we intend to nurture our creation to a long and healthy life in the music industry. SwaggQueen SwaggQueen SwaggQueen, also known as V, is a 16 year old singer/songwriter, graphic designer and photographer. She has been writing songs literally since she was 7 years of age. Her outlook on life and maturity about music as her passion will carry her far. Judging by her taste in music, it flip-flops in between R&B and Rock. She is a very talented lyricist and is very intelligent in school also, maintaining that 3.56 G.P.A while living the normal teenage life. She has aspirations for something bigger though, and The Bahamas' music industry barely has been touched by a talent and personality like this girl. Her mind is set to change people's perspective on rock music in The Bahamas and touch people's heart with soft ballads as well. Touching base with many genres of music in one, she can hardly be labled as just ONE KIND OF SINGER. Even though she is now just starting to record, there's a BIG surprise in store, when you hear her. Robert Haley Robert Haley This multi-talented, singer, songwriter and musician is a beautiful blend of his top influences. Robert Haley, originally from Halifax, now resides in Toronto. Growing up in a musical family, his father on bagpipes and mother playing both the keyboard and church organ, helped him develop the mature, lively mix of indie, rock, jazz and experimental alternative music that he writes today. Not only is Robert a multi-instrumentalist, playing keys, guitar, drums and singing, he also has skills in the studio. After an eleven-year break from his passion, he took some time to reflect on his life and decided that his love for music would never die. In 2006, he began the production of his debut album ‘The Butterfly Plague’ at his very own home studio. This album creates different emotions as you scroll from song to song. The album deals with some of the hardest life experiences, such as divorce, mental-illness and the loss of a family member. And then, on the contrary, it deals with some of life’s greatest moments, such as overcoming depression, choosing a new career path and becoming a parent for the first time. When the album was finally finished in 2009, Robert formed a band to support the CD release. Lincoln Marriner joined on guitar, Jeff Zurba on drums, Peter Lawrence on bass and Robert himself for vocals and guitar. Now, with the help of his band, Robert is ready to show that, opposite to what his song suggests, the world WILL listen! NALA NALA NALA is a 5 piece ensemble formed in 2009, consisting of original material in the style of Funky Rockin' Soul. Maya has already started the year with a bang releasing her single "Star Guide" to radio. This unique collaboration was written with producer Slakah the Beatchild (Art of Fresh, Divine Brown, Drake). Early on in her career Maya honed her skills as a performer, songwriter, recording artist and violinist with a formidable list of Canadian talent. She has worked with Divine Brown, Canadian Idol Winner Eva Avila, God Make Me Funky and Saida Baba Talibah to name a few. In 2005 Maya gained national notoriety as front woman for Toronto’s house sensations King Sunshine. While still a teen she released the album, “Second Movement” (2006) with King Sunshine and toured Canada extensively. Performances included the Montreal International Jazz Festival, Ottawa Jazz Festival, Toronto Jazz festival and multiple live TV and radio appearances. After rave review of the album and a string of sold out live shows Maya decided it was time to pursue her solo career in late 2008. 2009 saw the successful indie release of her EP "This Refers to You". It features collaborations with Dragonette drummer Joel Stouffer, producer Adam King and Slakah the Beatchild. Maya’s writing fearlessly outlines her tumultuous relationships being frank and witty while often taking humorous angles on painful situations. Maya shows how pop can be as gritty as hip-hop and rock without loosing sight of its place on the dance floor. With acclairm still surrounding her first solo release she plans to follow it up with a new collection of tunes in early 2010 titled “This Refers to You II”. It will feature “the remix sessions” of the first EP and new bangers "Magnum Force" and "Private Inmate". Maya’s live show has been highly praised for her musical creativity and energy on stage. She is a fearless multi-tasker taking control of lead vocals, violin, synths and laptop. Backed by noted jazz and pop players bassist Tyler Emond (Matt Dusk) and drummer Colin Kingsmore (Elizabeth Shepard) they form Maya’s Electric trio, compact enough to play the smallest boutique club with energy and sound to fill the largest stadium. Maya has always been recognized for her powerful vocals, enormous range and explosive performances. She’s dedicated to her craft and continually developing as an artist allowing her to be current and entirely unique. Expect great things from this young artist. While we’ve all heard the adage a million times, how many of us have actually applied it to our lives? Unleashing Toronto’s most intense fusion of hip-hop, funk, rock and R&B, wordPEOPLE have done just that. However, as the tale behind their debut independent full-length People’s Eatery proves, it took a while to get this collection of 13 tracks done right. wordPEOPLE came together in 2003 and quickly garnered praise for their original style and crowd moving performances, winning talent shows and releasing their PLAYONWORDS EP in 2005. The first single, "Foolin Yourself" reached Number Two on the request-based “Top 9 at 9 Countdown” on 91.5fm The Beat in the South Western Ontario region. Pleased with the reception and success of PLAYONWORDS, wordPEOPLE set their sights on a full-length. Teaming with producer Adam King (Cancel Winter, The Good Lovelies, Run With The Kittens), the group quickly realized that despite the initial strength of the songs, they wanted something more for People’s Eatery. Little did they know that it would be a full two years before their efforts would see the light of day. As front man and lyricst apeX reiterates, better to get it right the first time through. Restructuring People’s Eatery extended beyond the music. While not a conceptual effort, apeX relates that the album is tied together by the common theme of people watching, a bird’s eye view of the everyday. “We imagined just sitting and watching what people do. What's happening in their lives? Naturally, the observations are diverse: that guy over there is “sitting on the fringe of a binge like Sin City citizens, where moves are calculated by the neighbour’s dividends,” he's stressed about money (‘Keep Up’); the woman over there is in love but is too shy to speak to the object of her affection (‘Just Don’t Know’); the group of folks over there left work early because they really need to decompress through dance (‘People’). Musically and lyrically, it's a mix of the “physical and digital, the sensible and whimsical,” he states. The end result? wordPEOPLE offers 13 tracks of poetic honesty, musical prowess and spotless production. Expanding their vision to incorporate guest musicians, wordPEOPLE not only restructured internally but also unwittingly redefined the parameters of what constitutes a band. To explain, People’s Eatery features guest appearances by independent luminaries such as God Made Me Funky’s PHATT al, Moka Only, The Good Lovelies AND Louwop the Dirty General. “I like the idea of making records with other people,” apeX smiles. “We go through the writing process ourselves and then it’s fun to see how someone else interprets what we’ve done. I don’t think it sounds like a typical guest-spot record though. Everywhere people guest, it fits and the album becomes really diverse. Bringing our friends into People’s Eatery is the perfect way to augment the base we’ve set. We care about the songs enough to let others in on what we’re crafting instead of limiting ourselves to the confines of our members.” Moreover, by including such a diverse group of musicians and lyricists on People’s Eatery, wordPEOPLE ensure that their music truly does defy classification. While many bands and artists are quick to hide behind definition, wordPEOPLE embrace all aspects, confident that their ability to span musical gaps obliterates constriction and guarantees appeal to all walks of life. As apeX declares, “eclectic may be a sub genre these days but that’s what we are.” rocken~babyJules rocken~babyJules Jules is 10 yrs old. her passion is singing. The one you will hear is the first cut.Stay Tuned, Madame will be singing a soulful song called "How Do They Know." ******* At the age of 16, Madame was just a typical teenager who just enjoyed jamming on her piano but after two years she realized composing was the "real deal". She taught herself how to record, mix and produced on Pro Tools Le. Her stage name took some time to develop. She first started out as DNA, the D represented her first name and the A her last name but realized DNA was not the name for her. After many years of watching and listening to Mozart’s work she realized she wanted to be the Mozart in today’s music world. Like Mozart she aims to be a versatile composer and make new adjustments on current music forms. She has unique way of blending dissonant notes to make her songs and as a result, this is what makes her different from other artists. She has toured with her award winning middle school Jazz Choir and Stageband to Chicago. In Chicago they entered an American musical festival. She was the soloist in the song Operator. With her help they won first place. She continued her musicianship into high school as principle bassist and vocalist. ItsYMoney ItsYMoney I have been in multimedia productions for about 9 years and has the push to get me far Mandippal Mandippal From playing guitar in his Kitchener high school music class, to selling out hometown venues, to showcasing at major festivals, Mandippal has certainly come a long way in his nine year career as a musician, establishing himself as one of the hardest working artists in Toronto. Coming from a family of well-respected musicians and writers (like Mercury Prize winner Talvin Singh), Mandippal has been gaining a steady following, by focusing solely on his own blend of poetry and pop/rock. At 24, he has already made a lasting impression in Ontario's booming singer/songwriter scene, landing opening spots with notable acts like Jully Black, Sarah Slean, Justin Nozuka, Craig Cardiff, Dala, David Francey, Liam Titcomb, Said The Whale, Hannah Georgas, The Framework, and many others. In the last few years, Mandippal's success has certainly started to show. He has been featured on Toronto's Talent (Rogers TV), South Asian Newsweek (OMNI TV), Brit Asian Magazine (UK), CJIQ FM (Conestoga College), CIUT FM (University of Toronto), IndieLove.ca (Toronto), IndieCan Radio (Toronto), The Record (Kitchener-Waterloo), along with four consecutive showcases at S.C.E.N.E. Music Festival in St Catherine's, showcases at the 2007 COCA Regional Conference and the 2009 COCA National Conference, and coveted slots at 2008's NXNE Music and Film Festival & Canadian Music Week 2010. With nine years of songwriting and performing under his belt, 150+ shows played a year, 2000+ EP's sold in the last 2 years, and a new album in production with Justin Abedin (Justin Hines/jackSOUL), Mandippal is finally getting recognized as a serious player. She is what you would call a “self-taught” vocalist. Chelsea's Youtube Videos were later discovered by ImageFm In Feburary of 2010 with a spectacular and outstanding performance She has made many “YouTube” videos recorded from these shows and has received 1000’s of views. Hailing from Niagara Region of Ontario Canada, this barely 16 year olds music is like a Taylor Swift Nora Jones, Sprinkled with a dash of Paramore....what sets her aside from the rest is not only her soulful/powerhouse voice or her ability to connect to her audiences but the fascination that people hold when they realize she writes music well beyond her youthful experiences. By the age of 6-8yo Lindsay began belting out Arethra's Respect, and people noticed. Not being able to contain herself, she'd sing every minute of every waking day, literally. There were times when as nice as she sounded, family would ask her just to be quiet at times...as it was non-stop. Before the songs Lindsay wrote award winning speeches for school and continued this craft through music. By grade 1&2 she was writing books that were placed in the school library for others to take out. At a school fun night they had a karaoke machine set up in one room. Lindsay began singing in the empty room and by the end of the song the room was filled and people were curling there heads around the doorway checking out the commotion. After the urging of family friends, Lindsay began taking lessons at 10years old with the Ontario Music Conservatory under the guidance of Linda Tamburri. Shortly after she was invited by her vocal coach to be the lead singer of the tims. (coached by Carmen C - formerly of Flatlined) Til this day they perform and compete in local and international contests. Lindsay has grown up with these kids and slowly they each branch off to do other amazing things with music. Lindsay's been garnished with many awards, recognition ,scholarships over the years as well as many opportunities the internet has brought along the way. Her strong soulful voice has brought well over half a million video views accumulatively. There seems to be a demand for her music, yet technically she's yet to formerly release her first single. Lindsay's fanbase now spans worldwide and grows on a daily basis....The feedback she recieves inspires her and drives her forward. Lindsay continually polishes her craft like it is an addiction and is on a mission to continue writing through piano and guitar. The honesty in her lyrics strike a chord with all ages. She recently found herself a top 10 contender with ftvstar magazine(interview @ http://blog.feelingthevibe.com/ftv-star-top-10-lindsay-alward/ ) reaping some great critique from such artists as: Tim Rozon(Tommy Q-from the hit show-Instant Star), Savannah Outen, Gary Melvin, Universal Motown Artists "Jada" as well as Rebecca Rudolph(2009 L.A. Music Award Nominee nominee for best pop song) and last years winner Jesse Mariem She keeps grounded, and sincerely believes everyone has their talents. Needless to say this opened the door for all that has come and all that has yet to come for Lindsay. Nobody's asking Lindsay to be quiet anymore! I'm Carley I am 16 years old and I have been singing since I can remember.... Two summers ago, I decided to teach myself how to play the guitar and I haven't put it down since :) About a year and half ago, I started posting videos on YouTube ( http://www.youtube.com/Carley293 ). It has been an amazing experience so far. I have met so many amazing people, and I plan to continue posting music for a very long time :) So here I am now... Let me know what you think of my cover and please VOTE! Winning this contest would make my life! Thanks... Carley Our Fiction Our Fiction Our Fiction started out as an idea to just have fun with music between a few friends back in the summer of 2008. It wasn't a big thing until March of the following year, after a lineup change. The new lineup was ready to get together to rock out and write some original material. During 2009, Our Fiction began playing their first live shows, as well as recording six original tracks, which were released on an EP entitled 'Vision' in February 2010. Now the band is ready to take it to the next level. Playing more shows, writing more songs, and loving what they're doing. Our Fiction is: Catjiana Macintosh - Vocals Alex Erwin - Guitars Alex French - Guitars Bobby Finkle - Bass Devin Lacroix - Drums One Reverb One Reverb One Reverb, originally known as "Tea Why" started in 2006 with Rob Tougas and Jake Yntema playing as a duo for school shows. Eventually Ben, Jake's older brother, started bassing along and a trio was formed. Next, Stefanie Nicholas joined as the singer and much later Richard Coffin joined as the drummer. With a full band formed we looked to the future. After waiting for far too long for someone to book us, we began holding our own shows at The Tenth Ox yoga studio downtown Belleville. We figured we might as well take our fate into our own hands. Since our first show, we have changed our name, wrote some songs, and had way too much fun. We feel that if the band enjoys what they are playing, then the people listening will enjoy too. So we play like we mean it. Because we do. This is who we are. We are writing. We are playing. We are loving what we play and what we write. This is who we will always be. Until dawn we write, This aimless book, These footnotes of life. AnzhelikaB AnzhelikaB Hi, my name's Anzhelika and I'm from Russia. When I first heard Alexz singing in Instant Star I instantly fell in love with her voice and then I realized that I want to be a songwriter for real. Lots of things happened, I’ve had lots of inspiration and I’ve written some songs. It's been a dream of mine for more than 6 years now to become a singer/songwriter. I mean when I was just a little kid I did love playing piano and tried to compose, but I was a little 4 year old girl and no one really got me serious and no one could think my future would be connected with music. And here I am, a girl, who is still dreaming she'll be there one day, the place she's always wanted to be… Mourn The Divine Mourn The Divine She: a young prodigy. Been singing forever, only pursued it beginning at the end of 2008. Formed a band with my life time pal Graham and Taylor (since added Dave and Ryan). Played in last years Youdiscover concert series, and had a blast. Placed 6th overall recently in YOBI TV's vocal talent contest. Main musical influences are John Lennon, George Harrison, and Noel Gallagher. Love the old music of the 60's and 70's plus early 90's. Hopefully people like myself (and my band), and I can once again be successful here at Youdiscover! Steve Terreberry Steve Terreberry Steve Terreberry was born in 1987 and picked up the guitar at the age of 16 and has never looked back. He started taking guitar lessons when he was younger and then wanted to further his own artistry and technique. So he studied the guitar gods he looked up to and with a combination of riffs / hooks and scale patterns learned from these virtuosos, Terreberry developed his own style. He is what you would call a *self-taught* musician. THE ENTROPY THE ENTROPY Its drive is heavy. It's lyrically poignant. It's been described as metal inspired alternative, and sometimes just plain honest rock. Hailing from north of Toronto Ontario, brothers Josh and Luke Hutchinson, Grant Boyer and Jason Yuricek of The Entropy are continuing to make a serious impact on the Canadian Alt/Rock scene. In late 2009 they began their recording session at DNA Studios in Toronto Ontario, entitled "Cities Will Fall" - released May 1st 2010. With "Cities Will Fall", The Entropy are set to prove they are stronger than ever. Not only is the album an overwhelmingly accomplished collection of hard hitting riffs, and intricate themes, but shows a renewed sense of determination. "Cities is an aggressive 6 track examination of lost love, life, death, and faith " Robotic Lunch Robotic Lunch If robots ever dream at night, then they dream of the electricity and vibrancy of a music that sparks new life into the increasingly homogenized genre of rock; and if the music in these robots’ dreams could ever be heard in reality, it would come from a propulsive three-piece Canadian band known as Robotic Lunch. Hailing from southwestern Ontario, this group of musicians have managed to create an exciting new sound that brings together a core of crunchy guitar hooks with powerful driving drum beats, and catchy vocal melodies that is fast capturing the attention of the music community. Robotic Lunch started out as a few friends getting together to jam, but quickly turned into a full-fledged band by 2005. Lee Aldridge (lead vocals/guitar) and Chris Fleming (backing vocals/bass) had developed a handful of songs by the time they finally found Bob Little (drums) to tie the band together. They began to play frequent shows continually honing their craft. With the encouragement and demand of their fans they finally began recording their music. Under the name Ensuing Silence they released their first EP, Entropy. The five-song album quickly fostered a buzz through the internet and local music scene, and critics soon took notice. In 2007, the band was nominated for 6 IOMA awards including Artist of the Year, with Lee winning for Best Guitarist. Robotic Lunch were winners of the FM96 Flywyng Battle of the Bands in 2009. Following this accomplishment they rocked the stage at a huge show featuring Randy and Lahey of the Trailer Park Boys. It is not enough to merely hear the music of Robotic Lunch—this band must be seen to be believed. As they set out in support of their debut album, they are quickly building a reputation for being able to stun audiences with their intense performances, and their impressive presence on stage. Kendal Thompson Kendal Thompson In an industry flooded with questionable integrity and artists lacking realism, Kendal Thompson harkens back to a time when music artistry was about charisma and soul. With a voice reminiscent of Lauryn Hill and a country girl heart, Kendal has been carving out a name for herself in the wood of southern Ontario. Tom Skoal Tom Skoal Tom Skoal is a Niagara Falls based rock band that has been playing together for three years. They have a unique sound, while still maintaining pop sensibility. In 2010 Tom Skoal will be playing shows surrounding the Niagara Region, and they'll be releasing their second EP this summer. JOHAN DE PIAGGI JOHAN DE PIAGGI Johan De Piaggi is an up and coming Italian recording artist who was born and raised in Milano, Italy. He considers himself to be an interpreter of life and his songs are a powerful mixture of poesy and metaphors, commenting on love, city life, politcs and much much more. He writes about love as a futile suffering for those who are willing to sacrifice themselves for a love not worthy, he writes about city life in Milano but from the perspective of the people that make the city move, and he writes about politics, with a universal wisdom and a fight against injustice. These lyrics mixed with a music style that is influenced by 70's rock, 80's electronic and at moments elements of pop have made Johan a unique and powerful songwriter. Since the age of 16, Johan has been writing poems with plays on words and rhymes and at the age of 19 he starting putting melodies to is lyrics. His songs, music and personal style of writing transcends a hip hop generation and Johan is quickly becoming a strong force in introducing a new genre of Italian music to the world, specifically Canada. Johan has a profound capacity for storytelling and one does not need to understand his lyrics to enjoy the power of his music and emotions. His charismatic presence and immense energy combined with contagious melodies and rhythms, a particular and sexy, soulful voice all have a way of capturing your heart and leaving you with anticipation and suspense for the next song. Although based out of Milano, Johan currently divides his time between Niagara Falls, Ontario, where he chooses to relax and write and Milano, Italy where lately he has been recording with Emiliano Bassi of Laura Pausini and Max Ulni. WHY WHY When the members of Canadian rock band WHY came together to create what would be known as the “RED” album, a two year project in the making, little did they realize the distance this record would travel . As they did with their previous full length album “LAZARUS EFFECT,” which received air play in major markets across Canada and raised money to support OXFAM, WHY continues to raise awareness for both themselves as well as Make Poverty History. WHY's last full length album "RED", featured the single (and title track) "RED," was well received by various radio stations worldwide. "RED" sat at 1 on the KICK FM Winnipeg TOP 40 for 4 weeks in a row, and was named SONG OF THE YEAR. The follow up single "THE SURFACE" charted, hitting 1 on KICK FM, 5 on THE Q FM in Victoria BC, and airplay from THE GOAT in Alberta, FREQ 107 in Winnipeg, (both singles have been receiving radio support at) DOWN FM in Northern Ireland, and radio in Australia. WHY released “BIG THUNDER, NO RAIN” with great response from radio and is being used by IMPOSSIBLE 2 POSSIBLE (www.impossible2possible.com), an organization started by "RUNNING THE SAHARA" runner Ray Zahab. WHY first took shape in the late 90’s in Winnipeg Manitoba, when Brian Cook (vocalist) gathered to himself talented musicians and together ventured out to see their musical ideas take form. As years passed and other commitments took hold, Brian and the guys continued to write and began to dedicate time to Make Poverty History. WHY felt the need to use their music to raise awareness to the staggering fact that a child dies due to extreme poverty every 3 seconds. 2009 WHY released their single “WE STARTED OUT,” featured on the WATERCAN website: www.watercan.com . ( WaterCan is a Canadian charity dedicated to ending poverty by helping the world’s poorest people gain access to clean water, basic sanitation, hygiene education.) WHY is also donating 40% of the profits from the sale of their latest full length album "RED", (available online at www.cdbaby.com/whytheband2 or on iTUNES) to WATERCAN's work in eastern Africa to build water wells. WHY have started writing their next album and wrote the song "PRISONER OF HOPE" on Dec 10th 2009, not knowing weeks later Haiti would be hit by a deadly earthquake. The song's lyrics seemed strangely appropiate. The song "PRISONER OF HOPE" is available for download only at this time. And the members of WHY are donating 100% of the profits from downloads directly to UNICEF and their ongoing work in Haiti. When you download this song,...you are investing in Haiti's future. In the Fall of 2009 these 4 guys Nick McGuigan, Enzo Herrera, Chris Rowlands and Josh Humphrey joined up to form Amber Reigns. Nick and Chris came from Artificial Reality and were in the middle of Recording their debut album. During the process it became evident changes needed to be made and along came Josh and Enzo. Things were starting to finally move along with the recordings and a fresh start was born with a change in name to Amber Reigns. Before the CD was even completed their music was being sought after. The song ‘’Calm Me Down’’ officially released on their debut album an May 12, 2010 has been leased out to USA 1st in Jacksonville Florida. USA 1st leased the song for a year using it as the theme song to the Seminar “Reality” across high schools in the USA to bring awareness to teen related problems. The song brought attention from Elevated TV Productions out of Toronto who specifically asked if they can shoot the Calm Me Down Video which will be aired on Much Music and should be completed by June 2010. Amber Reigns will also be on satellite radio 89.5 in early June, the station has 8 million listeners and will be doing a interview via phone with the band. The song was also sent to Giant FM 91.7in Welland Ontario in hopes to get some air play. Peter Morena the stations manager quickly responded with a request for Amber Reigns to come into the station for an interview and to perform the song live on the air. On May 12 2010 Amber Reigns made their Radio premier to over 100,000 listeners and 15,000 on line guest. This is not the only song the band has that got some notice. On soundclick.com the song ’’You’’ shot right to #1 within 4 days on the Alternative charts. The song has a melodic rhythm and utilizes a talk box to bring the funk out. It also was used in a commercial on 97.7 HTZ FM as background music. It also got them a nomination to the Niagara Music Awards 2008 when the band was known as Artificial Reality. With popular songs that are catching peoples interest there was high expectation for the album release and the group did not let people down. Songs like “I Am” caught the attention of there Producer Chris Curry who said it has all 3 elements to a hit song. The write song, sung by the write person with the right production equals a hit. This song was a natural fit for us all he said. Their music is very diverse, from strong lyrics and great harmonies that Nick McGuigan seems to come up with so naturally. Songs like ’’Something’s Are Better Than the Truth’’ sure to be a hit pop song to songs that grind it out like ‘’Open Up Your Eyes’’ that at any one moment you’re sure to get chills down to the bottom of your spine to that feeling of power from in your face rock that makes you want to scream. Amber Reigns is fronted with two very accomplished guitar players, Nick McGuigan who is also the lead vocalist and Enzo Herrera. Nick has played in Artificial Reality until there demise along with Chris Rowlands the bass player, who also came to Amber Reigns. Josh Humphrey on drums and Enzo have been playing together for 8 years coming from accomplished bands such as After The Fall, Social Imbalance and probably the most recognizable Zombie Inc, the chemistry was there right from the start. At all Amber Reign shows including the sold out CD Release show they collect food for the local food bank. The band is currently setting up a charity where $1.00 from every CD sale will go towards The Amber Alert foundation. The community is who supports us and Amber Reigns feels strongly even at this point in there carrier to give back.
