Sundown Sundown Since Sundown began competing in all-age Battle-of-the-Band events just one year ago, they have been consistently winning almost every major event. A very few of their more memorable victories are: - The Best of the Best – FIRST PLACE; Randy River Final Cut – City of Toronto Finals – FIRST PLACE; Genz Benz Summer Warfare 2008 – Canadian National Finals – FIRST PLACE. At one point this past Winter, Sundown actually had four of their original songs, in the top four positions, on the Supernova.com North American Top Ten List. Sundown has just released their first ever album entitled "My Own Path". To celebrate this release, they held a CD Release party and it was a huge success! Blindsided Poets Blindsided Poets Fronted by 15 y.o. Kitty Lee, our members are an eclectic group of talented musicians, from varied backgrounds and experiences, who have been working on a collaborative effort of original songs since around 2000. Sticking together, mainly because we love to play this music with one another. It all started with Jane and Nigel sitting around a campfire playing the blues back on a warm summer night. After about six months of practicing together Jane had an idea. She talked Nigel into jamming with her good friend, Tony. Nigel was very skeptical about adding a drummer at first, but after hearing the master player, he was convinced and they became a trio. Slim joined them initially when Nigel and Jane first started to jam in 2000. He left shortly after to pursue other possibilities, came back briefly after Janes illness for a few gigs and now is contributing his talents to a project with Tony, along with Frank who now joins the Blindsided Poets on bass. In 2008 Nigel's daughter, Kitty was folded in as a keyboard player. Shortly after for personal reasons, took over singing full time from Jane. We are still able to enjoy Jane's fantastic song writing skills, and love playing what we can. http://www.youtube.com/blindsidedpoets . . .. Running Red Lights Running Red Lights Running Red Lights is currently recovering from the shock of WINNING this years Indiscover summer series. A win that has yet to truly sink in to our wounded heads. Our luck has NEVER had a way of changing for the better and like every other undertaking, we fully expected to fail. SO with considerable gratitude we would like to say THANK YOU to the Indiscover judges and crew, FANS, friends and family. We accept this honor with the respect and recognition it deserves and only hope that we can live up to the winning title. The competition was absolutely fierce and when we got the win, we couldn't help but feel like we cheated a GREAT band out of the title. DRIVE FASTER, WORDpeople, PEOPLE YOU KNOW and INFRACT are all equally deserving bands and we can't imagine the torment the judges had to face to pick a final winner. ALL the bands were not only CRAZY talented artists but also wonderful people, which is generally rare in this very competitive, cut-throat business. PLEASE if you have a moment check them out and show them some much deserved love. The difficulties of life are intended to make us better, not bitter and so we must pay a bit of homage to the failures that have brought us to this moment. 'The only thing that overcomes hard luck is hard work' and we promise to seize this opportunity and work as hard as needed to make not only our dreams come true but also honor the people who have given us love and support from day one. Much love from Scarlett, Josh, Dave, Kevin and Jeff xo BIO. Formed in early 2006 as a pop band inspired by the resurgence of 80's pop, Running Red Lights is a group of six independent musicians/songwriters inspired mutually by Rhythm and Blues, 80's pop, Euro and Indiepop. Throughout the span of 4 years, Running Red Lights has secured placements in feature films, opened for Grammy nominated artists 'Counting Crows' at Bayfest 2009, performed at Juno Festival in Halifax, has been featured on etalk as well as various publications and radio stations in Ontario. While playing the performance circuit around the GTA, RRL's live act attracted some regional interest and subsequently Juno winning producer, Gavin 'Golden' Brown (Three Days Grace, Metric, Billy Talent, Stereos, Midway State) offered the band an opportunity to develop under his tutelage. Upon the successful self-titled release of a 4 song EP in 2009, Running Red Lights secured agent representation with Vice President, Colin Lewis of The Agency Group. The band is currently working on a second EP, anticipating a release by summer, followed by a Canadian tour. people you know people you know As unpretentious as they are pleasing-to-the-ears, this three-piece band is easy to listen to, easy to look at and even easier to love. But don’t think that the members of PYK assume that success will come easy. Working their way up the ranks of Toronto’s music scene since April of 2008, this band of close friends has picked up new instruments, forged a new sound together, and put a few miles on some rental cars. With shows at Canadian Music Week, Toronto Pride and a recent win as Extra Magazine’s ‘Best Band’ of 2008 and 2009, People You Know don’t show any signs of slowing down, or letting their snowballing success go to their heads. PYK is a band that works hard, attributing their rise to the people they know who keep coming out to show their support. Catch PYK as they continue to debut new tunes that are melodic, thick, hot and slick without ever looking like they have to try – PYK is infectious, like a plague you don’t mind catching. Comfortable in their own skin, this trio is true to where they’ve come from. If you don’t know PYK yet, you’ll want to. But hurry, because they’re taking off and as their track “Stay Golden” proclaims, if you don’t move fast “all that you’ll get is goodbye.” However, with a parting glance like this… it’s a goodbye you’ll look forward to again and again.
