Dead Audio Therapy Dead Audio Therapy We are a 5 piece band from Hamilton Ontario. Dan Lapierre, Russell Pye, Larry Millar, Mike Wilson and Roy Belisle We have just finished recording our full length CD and it is in the hands of Julius Butty the producer ( Dallas Green, Alexis on fire, Protest the Hero etc.) We will be holding a CD release this fall so stay tuned wordPEOPLE wordPEOPLE Anything worth doing should be done right the first time. While we’ve all heard the adage a million times, how many of us have actually applied it to our lives? Unleashing Toronto’s most intense fusion of hip-hop, funk, rock and R&B, wordPEOPLE have done just that. However, as the tale behind their debut independent full-length People’s Eatery proves, it took a while to get this collection of 13 tracks done right. wordPEOPLE came together in 2003 and quickly garnered praise for their original style and crowd moving performances, winning talent shows and releasing their PLAYONWORDS EP in 2005. The first single, "Foolin Yourself" reached Number Two on the request-based “Top 9 at 9 Countdown” on 91.5fm The Beat in the South Western Ontario region. Pleased with the reception and success of PLAYONWORDS, wordPEOPLE set their sights on a full-length. Teaming with producer Adam King (Cancel Winter, The Good Lovelies, Run With The Kittens), the group quickly realized that despite the initial strength of the songs, they wanted something more for People’s Eatery. Little did they know that it would be a full two years before their efforts would see the light of day. As front man and lyricst apeX reiterates, better to get it right the first time through. Restructuring People’s Eatery extended beyond the music. While not a conceptual effort, apeX relates that the album is tied together by the common theme of people watching, a bird’s eye view of the everyday. “We imagined just sitting and watching what people do. What's happening in their lives? Naturally, the observations are diverse: that guy over there is “sitting on the fringe of a binge like Sin City citizens, where moves are calculated by the neighbour’s dividends,” he's stressed about money (‘Keep Up’); the woman over there is in love but is too shy to speak to the object of her affection (‘Just Don’t Know’); the group of folks over there left work early because they really need to decompress through dance (‘People’). Musically and lyrically, it's a mix of the “physical and digital, the sensible and whimsical,” he states. The end result? wordPEOPLE offers 13 tracks of poetic honesty, musical prowess and spotless production. Expanding their vision to incorporate guest musicians, wordPEOPLE not only restructured internally but also unwittingly redefined the parameters of what constitutes a band. To explain, People’s Eatery features guest appearances by independent luminaries such as God Made Me Funky’s PHATT al, Moka Only, The Good Lovelies AND Louwop the Dirty General. “I like the idea of making records with other people,” apeX smiles. “We go through the writing process ourselves and then it’s fun to see how someone else interprets what we’ve done. I don’t think it sounds like a typical guest-spot record though. Everywhere people guest, it fits and the album becomes really diverse. Bringing our friends into People’s Eatery is the perfect way to augment the base we’ve set. We care about the songs enough to let others in on what we’re crafting instead of limiting ourselves to the confines of our members.” Moreover, by including such a diverse group of musicians and lyricists on People’s Eatery, wordPEOPLE ensure that their music truly does defy classification. While many bands and artists are quick to hide behind definition, wordPEOPLE embrace all aspects, confident that their ability to span musical gaps obliterates constriction and guarantees appeal to all walks of life. As apeX declares, “eclectic may be a sub genre these days but that’s what we are.” Dylan James Dylan James Music is a universal language that can enhance the present. C'mon we dare ya! Written by: Don Somerville DRIVE FASTER DRIVE FASTER Infectious as The Killers, cool as Metric, Drive Faster keeps dance-rock slick and savvy. Ready, set, go! Drive Faster began as Supernal, a hard-working, hard-rocking four-piece from Calgary, Alberta. Opening for such acclaimed acts as Angels and Airwaves and Sum41, Supernal shook stages from Vancouver to New York City, receiving airplay on over 300 commercial and college radio stations continent-wide. Reviewers testified, “the energy and vibe they provide to their audience is infectious” (Uncharted Sounds, 2008). After relocating to Toronto, Ontario, Supernal shifted gears to become Drive Faster, a rhythmic reincarnation of Supernal’s fast-lane formula. Drummer Michael Holbrook, guitarist Tony Gare and bassist Jeff Scale locked to new-wave grooves while frontwoman Angela Elizabeth traded her electric guitar for a mini-Korg synthesizer. “Their music is just like their personality: friendly and upbeat. They are realistic and ambitious. Top that with talented” (Andréanne Sasseville – Sirius Satellite Radio, BOBBi MAGAZINE). Drive Faster debuted their new sound at Canadian Music Week 2009 to a packed crowd at Holy Joe’s. In February 2009 Drive Faster taped an episode for Aux TV’s Master Tracks where producers Moe Berg (Pursuit of Happiness) and Laurence Currie (Sloan, The Cliks) worked with the band to record their song “Analog” at MetalWorks studio. Berg described the process as a “homerun” and mentioned Drive Faster favourably throughout the program’s promotion. "Frame of Mind" will be released in July 2010 as Drive Faster heads to the fast lane. Amber Reigns Amber Reigns Based out of Fort Erie Ontario, Amber Reigns came on the scene fairly recently. In the Fall of 2009 these 4 guys Nick McGuigan, Enzo Herrera, Chris Rowlands and Josh Humphrey joined up to form Amber Reigns. Nick and Chris came from Artificial Reality and were in the middle of Recording their debut album. During the process it became evident changes needed to be made and along came Josh and Enzo. Things were starting to finally move along with the recordings and a fresh start was born with a change in name to Amber Reigns. Before the CD was even completed their music was being sought after. The song ‘’Calm Me Down’’ officially released on their debut album an May 12, 2010 has been leased out to USA 1st in Jacksonville Florida. USA 1st leased the song for a year using it as the theme song to the Seminar “Reality” across high schools in the USA to bring awareness to teen related problems. The song brought attention from Elevated TV Productions out of Toronto who specifically asked if they can shoot the Calm Me Down Video which will be aired on Much Music and should be completed by June 2010. Amber Reigns will also be on satellite radio 89.5 in early June, the station has 8 million listeners and will be doing a interview via phone with the band. The song was also sent to Giant FM 91.7in Welland Ontario in hopes to get some air play. Peter Morena the stations manager quickly responded with a request for Amber Reigns to come into the station for an interview and to perform the song live on the air. On May 12 2010 Amber Reigns made their Radio premier to over 100,000 listeners and 15,000 on line guest. This is not the only song the band has that got some notice. On soundclick.com the song ’’You’’ shot right to #1 within 4 days on the Alternative charts. The song has a melodic rhythm and utilizes a talk box to bring the funk out. It also was used in a commercial on 97.7 HTZ FM as background music. It also got them a nomination to the Niagara Music Awards 2008 when the band was known as Artificial Reality. With popular songs that are catching peoples interest there was high expectation for the album release and the group did not let people down. Songs like “I Am” caught the attention of there Producer Chris Curry who said it has all 3 elements to a hit song. The write song, sung by the write person with the right production equals a hit. This song was a natural fit for us all he said. Their music is very diverse, from strong lyrics and great harmonies that Nick McGuigan seems to come up with so naturally. Songs like ’’Something’s Are Better Than the Truth’’ sure to be a hit pop song to songs that grind it out like ‘’Open Up Your Eyes’’ that at any one moment you’re sure to get chills down to the bottom of your spine to that feeling of power from in your face rock that makes you want to scream. Amber Reigns is fronted with two very accomplished guitar players, Nick McGuigan who is also the lead vocalist and Enzo Herrera. Nick has played in Artificial Reality until there demise along with Chris Rowlands the bass player, who also came to Amber Reigns. Josh Humphrey on drums and Enzo have been playing together for 8 years coming from accomplished bands such as After The Fall, Social Imbalance and probably the most recognizable Zombie Inc, the chemistry was there right from the start. At all Amber Reign shows including the sold out CD Release show they collect food for the local food bank. The band is currently setting up a charity where $1.00 from every CD sale will go towards The Amber Alert foundation. The community is who supports us and Amber Reigns feels strongly even at this point in there carrier to give back. Metro4 Metro4 Opening for such artists as: Stone Temple Pilots, Our Lady Peace, The Stills, See Spot Run, Sass Jordan, The Trews, Sloan and sharing the stage with: Counting Crows, Tim McGraw, KISS, not many bands can say they have reached these heights with only ONE album under their belts. Metro4 is a band that firmly believes that persistence pays off. The first lineup emerged about four years ago and went through three singers before the right voice for the band was discovered. After incorporating vocalist and guitarist Jason Mercer, a local singer/songwriter, Metro4 finally found the sound and chemistry they had been waiting for, joining Daniel Di Febo (guitars) and Danny Dubé (bass), Drummer Ryan Kriz was the finishing touch for the London-based band, and Metro4 got to work completing their self-titled debut album. M4 hit the SWO circuit shortly after Mercer’s arrival, playing festivals and local gigs. Their CD was released in June of 2009, and shortly after, their music hit the international market with CD and online sales in Europe and the United States, as well as their first single, “Little Sister” being added to a major American motion picture, "The Camera's Eye." Their unique blend of sounds reflects the combination of their diverse backgrounds and personalities. From sweeping chord changes to infectious melodies, Metro4’s songs reflect influences ranging from U2, Keane, Interpol, Coldplay, to old Genesis. Their sound comes from a combination of driving and complex bass lines, and a backdrop of layered guitars. Metro4’s set list is comprised of all-original material, written as a collaborative effort within the band. Songs that can sound deceitfully complicated are still listener-friendly, highlighting emotional and powerful lyrics. A band in motion, the buzz is only beginning... Kevin Myles Wilson Kevin Myles Wilson Hi there, My name is Kevin Myles Wilson. I am a 23 year old singer/songwriter from Toronto, ON. Here's a few things about me that you should know. I make terrible first impressions. When I was a kid I wanted to be a professional wrestler. I Pooped my pants twice in high school. I love hockey and I hate driving. I really love biking. I enjoy reading books and picking my nose. I've been in love with 5 different people. One of those people is Ben Kweller. I should probably get checked out for A.D.D. I like growing up. I have a terrible memory but enjoy washing dishes and am a neat freak. I can't sleep. I have a best friend. And last but not least, I hope you like my music! When a classic-rock upbringing hits the dizzying black hole of indie/folk music, somewhere off in that niche of a galaxy sits Inlimbo. Inlimbo was born when two students met in an electronics class. Not only did they share an uncontrollable passion for transistors and circuit boards they also shared an affinity for music. The two decided to start a band and with the addition of a brother on guitar Inlimbo had everything except a drummer, but that didn’t matter. Despite an unbalanced collection of instrumentalists, no music and no name, they signed up for their high school’s battle of the bands. A drummer was hastily recruited, a song scribbled on a napkin and a name logically appointed, Inlimbo, because up to this point they were literally in limbo. After a series of unfortunate events with many drummers exploding and/or disappearing in the middle of the night, the band came across a drummer who was able to sidestep the bad karma associated with the position. Inlimbo has since gone on to become one of the most popular bands in the Niagara area, carving a spot for themselves as an original act in a raging sea of karaoke and bar bands. With an EP already out and a full-length record in the works Inlimbo has become well versed in the ways of the studio and the stage. With great melodic sensibilities, steamy guitar solos, a tight, lo-fi rhythm section and lyrics that ask all the right questions, what more could you ask from band members Taylor Page, Adam Slinn, Giulio and Sandro Rocco (yah, they're twins)? www.iaminlimbo.com
